Sean has a BSc degree in Biochemistry from the University of London. He gained further technical experience at University College London (UCL) and Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, NHS Foundation Trust, where he was awarded a PhD for his research into the neurometabolic mechanism behind the efficacy of the ketogenic diet in the treatment of neurodegenerative disease.

Sean then worked as a postdoctoral medical researcher at Southampton General Hospital, NHS Foundation Trust, investigating potential immunotherapeutic routes for the treatment of atopic patients.

Sean’s research has been published in the Journal of Neurochemistry.

Upon joining the profession, Sean obtained a Postgraduate Certificate in Intellectual Property Law from Bournemouth University, for which he was awarded the highest overall mark in his academic year. He then went on to qualify as a European Patent Attorney in 2019. Sean now continues building on his experience of patent drafting, prosecution, due diligence and opposition. His work also involves coordinating international IP prosecution and advising on registered and unregistered design protection.

Sean has been recognised as one of Managing IP’s Rising Stars of 2023.
